The Big Day


Through grit and determination the final mountain was climbed on adrenaline and emotion but 22 hours 57 minutes and 10 seconds after starting Ben Nevis in Scotland we reached the Pen-y-pas car park at the foot of Snowdonia.

Radshape completes the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge in less than 24 hours in aid of Leukaemia Research and in honour of Barry Richards

A small team from Radshape Sheetmetal Limited achieved their ambition of completing the Three Peaks Challenge (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon) in 22hours 57mins & 10 seconds in memory of their Commercial Engineer Barry Richards who sadly passed away in June .

The challenge started at Ben Nevis at 5.30pm on 6th August 2009 and in an unbelievable time of 4hr 50mins the 1st mountain was completed.

A quick break then saw a drive of a 5 and ½ hours to Scafell Pike.

A 4 hour climb of Scafell Pike completed the 2nd mountain, then followed a 5 hour drive to Snowdon arriving at 12.15pm.

Dragging their weary bodies, some carrying injuries the lads started the ascent of Snowdon – 5 hours the target time , the guys had done it in 3 and ½ in their training walks – just under 4 hours Snowdon was completed. 

The 3rd mountain was completed at 4.27.10pm amid very emotional celebrations.

The walking Team consisted of:-Chris Dickinson, Mark Cerrone, Guy Marshall, John Harper, Bill Howarth, Mark Thompson & Tom Gwynn.

The support Team consisted of:-Keith Chadwick, Ken Brown, Les Hollis, Mike & Trish Cerrone, Bob Paton (Works Director @ Birmingham Stopper).

Keith Chadwick (Managing Director) of Radshape summed it up stating ‘the dedication, commitment and determination these guys demonstrated has been unbelievable, I am very proud of what has been achieved and I have utmost respect for them .The Snowdon climb was down to pure emotion and adrenaline, the whole team gelled and showed by working together what can be achieved ‘.

He concluded by stating ‘that the support we have had from Morgan Motor Cars, Bentley Motor Cars, Malvern Spa in supplying prizes for the raffle has been wonderful, not forgetting Robert Lynock at Gerard Mann Commercials in Birmingham for his effort in securing the 8 seater Vito vans’ .
